Who We Are

------------------------------------------------

Operation Rwanda was a dream started by two young men from Barrie, Ontario in October 2009. Since then, Operation Rwanda has been working closely with big church in Barrie, who has been handing the all of the administrative needs until Operation Rwanda expands their organization. This is why all donations are made out to “big church”. “Home of Hope Canada” which is located in Red Deer, Alberta is another mission-based organization that we’ve worked closely with for the past few months. They were a huge role in helping us establish the feeding program, and launching this project.

The goal of Operation Rwanda is to help others who are in desperate situations around the world. 17’000 children die every day (6.3 million per year) due to starvation or other hunger-related causes. We at Operation Rwanda believe it’s our responsibility to help bring a change to those statistics. We’ve researched the costs of food in the desperate regions of Rwanda and have discovered that for only 0.50 USD you can feed a child a very large amount of rice, beans, and assorted vegetables with a cup of water to drink. Financially, at this time we are only able to feed 75-100 children once per week; but for many of these children, it may be the only thing they eat that week. The feeding program serves a temporary purpose only. The idea behind it is to feed the most desperate of the children until we find them a sponsor.
